THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 6:30–10:30 PM
ARTHUR M. SACKLER GALLERY
Celebrate the final Asia After Dark of 2010 and the start of Asian Art Revolution, a weekend of events that take a fresh look at Asian art, film, and music. The revolution kicks off Thursday night at Asian Pop Rock, featuring Asian grooves by DJs Yellow Fever, along with a chance to meet special guests Zac Holtzman and Senon Williams from the Cambodian pop-rock band Dengue Fever.
You'll also get to sneak a peek at the cutting-edge video and photography in Fiona Tan: Rise and Fall before its public opening. Exhibition curator Carol Huh will reveal how Tan's work explores memory and identity in a world increasingly shaped by global culture.
Express your own identity through the Artful Avatars activity. Strike a pose in our retro photo booth, decorate the picture—or craft an original self-portrait—with art materials in our invention space, and display your final product in the Dark Room. Find the Pink Line Project cameraman to make your voice heard and face seen in a short video interview. Then, catch your on-screen performance projected in the Pink Line Pop Rock Lounge.
Suggested Attire: The brightest POP ROCK'IN colors you own—bright green, blue, purple, red, pink, yellow, and orange.
A cash bar will offer specialty cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the evening, as well as food from area restaurants. You must be 21 years old with a valid photo ID to attend.
