Asia After Dark guests will have first dibs on a limited-edition T-shirt from renowned American designer Anna Sui. Designed by Sui with illustrations by Sara Schwartz, the shirt celebrates Whistler's iconic Peacock Room, on view in the Freer Gallery of Art. Printed in black—with an iridescent screening of Schwartz's Peacock Room drawing—the shirts will be available for $39 in the Sackler Shop during Asian Pop Rock, and thereafter in the shops until supplies are exhausted.
The shirts debuted last spring when they were distributed to several hundred VIPs at Sui's runway show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. They are now featured in her fall 2010 line. Sui's brand retails globally, in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Among her many honors is the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and a spot on Time magazine's list of this decade's top five fashion icons. Schwartz's artwork has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Korea Vogue, and various teen magazines.
