ImaginAsia Teen Refugee Art Program

Education and Public Programs

Education is at the heart of our mission to use works of art to inspire study and provoke thought. Your contribution supports dynamic programs that inspire and enlighten, offering visitors a myriad of ways to engage with our remarkable collections and exhibitions. From family festivals to scholarly symposia, our lively schedule of free public events serves a wide array of audiences each month.

Support Asian Film

Every year the Freer and Sackler bring the best of Asian cinema to Washington. Each film is artfully chosen to present original, insightful and provocative perspectives on Asia, past and present.

From masterworks to fresh indie releases, our goal is to make the full scope of Asian filmmaking available to the public free of charge.

Support Imaginasia

The Galleries offer children and families creative opportunities to enjoy and explore the arts and cultures of Asia in a welcoming environment. Our popular ImaginAsia programs serve 5,000 children and their adult companions each year with unique hands-on learning activities, including calligraphy, poetry, kite-making, Anime, origami, puppet-making, textiles, book arts, block printing and more.

Support Music and Performance

The Galleries are committed to presenting the widest possible range of performing arts from Asia and the diaspora, covering the span from classical, religious, and folk music to a range of new music inspired by Asian traditions. We believe it is particularly important to present new music for Asian instruments, new works for Western instruments by Asian composers, and creative fusions that meld East and West in innovative new ways.
