The central poem is signed by Ali, also known as Mir Ali al-Husayni (d. 1556), one of the most celebrated Persian masters of the nasta`liq script. It reads,
How ignorant have human beings remained. Though they spend a life in wealth and affluence, They do not appreciate it until they come to grief. |
