Initiated in 2001, Scientific Research in the Field of Asian Art is a series of biannual symposia whose purpose is to highlight recent scientific and technical studies of the arts of Asia. The most recent symposia have examined the sculptural arts and the pictorial arts in an effort to show the effect of scientific methodologies on broader questions of a technical, historical, or art historical nature.
