Artistic director Yoon Jeong Heo performs on geomungo, a traditional Korean zither that dates to the seventh century and is still made without metal parts. Similar to "Five Directions," her current work cuts across genres and expands the possibilities for Korean instruments by fusing traditional, improvised, and contemporary music. She created "Five Directions" as part of a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council that supported a two-year residency in New York.
